HOW TO STAY IN THE LOOP

Red Folders (aka: Kid Mail)

During in-person instruction, your child will be given a red folder that is to go to and from school each day in their backpack. Your child's classroom teacher will use this folder to send home permission slips, homework, event announcement, classroom newsletters, and much more. It is vital that you check this folder daily.

Room Parent Emails

We are lucky to have a wonderful team of dedicated parents who work hard to get the word out about all things happening at Hay. You should be receiving emails from your classroom parent periodically starting by October. If you are not receiving any communications, please contact your child's teacher to be sure we have the best email by which to contact you. If you would like to be a room parent in the coming year, please email our PTSA Family Engagement Lead. Thank you!

Facebook

This is the go-to place for frequent John Hay updates. On the John Hay Elementary School Facebook Page @JohnHayElementary, the PTO/Partners share community news, reminders, events, fun facts, and information on upcoming meetings. Feel free to share our posts! This account is managed by John Hay PTSA and its volunteers. And don't forget to "like" the page, so you can stay in touch.

JAGUAR TRACKS

John Hay Elementary School sends a weekly bulletin, AKA Jaguar Tracks, via the school messenger. This email newsletter is our all-school communication sent every Friday. It includes John Hay Elementary school information that is relevant to the entire school community. Important dates, social events, enrichment information, community celebrations, school-wide volunteer needs, links to PTSA news, and district & legislative announcements are all common topics in our weekly newsletter. To be kind to the environment, the newsletter is sent digitally and posted on our website, yet if you would like a paper version our John Hay Office staff can accommodate. Send them an email at emhayes@seattleschools.org and they can add one to your child’s red folder. We try to cover all the important need to know facts, yet if you have feedback, community news, or an article you would like to be added it must be sent to the John Hay Office Staff by Noon on Thursday.
